Kathmandu, 18 March, 2015 : Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal has said the nation gets new constitution by May 29 if the political parties forged consensus on the disputed issues of the constitution writing process.
Speaking at an interaction organized by Reporters Club here today, he said the current coalition government is committed to promulgate new constitution by forging political consensus and urged the opposition parties to act accordingly.
He said the Nepali Congress was committed to the past agreement signed between the political parties and expressed his confidence that it was possible to forge political consensus on the disputed issues of the constitution writing process, soon.
Minister Dr Rijal said one and all should make sincere efforts to narrow down the current differences among the political parties. “It is difficult for us to meet if we take different paths so it should be thought about in time,” he added.
He urged the opposition parties not to take the flexibility shown by the Nepali Congress as weakness but to settle the disputed issues working honestly. “I am hopeful that the discussion of the senior leaders called under the initiatives of the CA Chairman Subas Nembang would bring positive results,” said Dr Rijal.
Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Upendra Yadav stressed on the need of implementing the past agreements signed among the political parties, adding that the current political impasse would be ended when sincere efforts from one and all were made to that end.
He said the new constitution should addresses the issues of the marginalized people, women, and backward classes and that none would raise talks of protests if the current political impasse was settled through political consensus. Yadav urged the government to work sincerely to end the increasing corruption, violence, crimes and rape cases.
