Itahari, 7th February, 2015 :Â Â Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) has said his party has never advocated for the federalism based on single ethnic identity because the country is a pluralistic society.
At a press conference here today, Chairman Dahal said his party was for the recognition of the identity of all castes, cultures, religions and genders but not of a single one.
He reiterated that the comprehensive peace accord (CPA) and the interim constitution have finely mentioned the ethnicity-based federalism, but the CPN-UML deviated from the agenda of the multiple identity. So, we have termed the UML as the party sans culture, Chairman Dahal argued.
Chairman Dahal worried that ill-efforts were on to limit the Constituent Assembly as the parliament. It was because of the same reason the first CA fell flat, he said, adding that his party was on the campaign against this.
He said the questionnaire committee had no relevance at all, so it must be scrapped soon.
The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman accused the ruling Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML of becoming supercilious.
According to him, once the spirits of the interim constitution and the CPA were followed, there was still the atmosphere for discussion and consensus among the parties.
“I’m, as a the leader of the opposition, for the constitution from the CA,” he added.
