Biratnagar, Aug. 26: Itahari correspondent of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Yam Pradhan, has been awarded with the Khileshwori Journalism Award.
The award was established by the Pitamber/Khileshwori Memorial Foundation, Biratnagar.
At a programme organised by the Foundation here on Monday, social worker Prof Dr Khagendra Acharya presented the award to Pradhan. The award carries a purse of Rs 5,000 and a letter of appreciation.
On the occasion, Acharya said that the role of journalists was important for the establishment of republicanism.Similarly, Pradhan stressed that one should be involved in journalism profession with the objective of creating awareness in the society, not for any benefit and harm.
Pradhan is working in Itahari as RSS District correspondent for the past 20 years.
Morang President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Mahendra Bista, former President Yagya Sharma, among others expressed the view that journalism profession is risky. The programme was chaired by Foundation Chairman Koshraj Regmi.
