SAARC Business Leaders’ Conclave: Promoting investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the SAARC region

Kathmandu, February 25, 2018: With the motive of promoting investment, innovation and entrepreneurship in the SAARC region, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), in partnership with Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) and with support of Nepalese government is set to conduct the sixth edition of ‘SAARC Business Leaders’ Conclave’ from March 16 to 18, 2018 in Kathmandu. Business leaders of SAARC member nations will commune to address the event.

According to Suraj Vaidya, president of SAARC-CCI, the conclave is being held in Nepal for the second time and the government is going to organize the regional event jointly with SAARC-CCI. Furthermore, he mentioned that the intention behind organizing the event is to initiate discussions on major issues for unraveling the ability of shared prosperity of the region.

The event will provide a common platform to South Asian think-tanks, policymakers, and businesspeople. They are slated to hold intensive interactions on various issues to discuss, debate and come up with opportunities and solutions to take South Asia on the path of shared prosperity through economic integration. South Asian Free Trade Area(SAFTA) meet is also going to be held at the end meeting as well. The SAFTA meeting is going to be held after four years to discuss the unresolved issues of the agreements into effects.

Pranab Mukherjee, the former president of India, and Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, the former president of Sri Lanka will mark their presence as the keynote speaker and speaker of the conclave respectively.

The event will provide a common platform to South Asian think-tanks, policymakers, and businesspersons. They will discuss, debate and draft solutions and opportunities to take South Asia on the path of shared prosperity through economic integration.
