Secularism Does Not Allow Doing Everything, Singh

Chitwan,2 April 2015: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development Prakashman Singh has said that secularism is not an exemption to do everything in one’s interest.

At a programme here Thursday, Singh said that rumours on forceful religious conversion have been heard and the law would not exempt anyone for changing religion by issuing threats or alluring of something to others.

Singh also added that discrimination should not be carried out against any religion adding that none should fear from secularism if punishment to the persons involved in religious conversion was included in the constitution itself.

On a separate context, he said that efforts were going on to forge consensus in the issues of new constitution adding that the Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting was postponed to end the deadlock through the talks.

The new constitution would be promulgated even by opting for process if consensus was not forged by April 6.
