Real Madrid looks strong

Los Blancos have been near perfect in the group stage when it comes to results, something expected from the reigning champs. With the home wins over Sporting and Legia and the draw at difficult Dortmund, Real Madrid is in the driver’s seat to win the group. On Tuesday it was another typical goal rush for the capital club (even though Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t score), and it provides plenty of momentum going into matchday four. But lets be honest, we all knew Real Madrid wasn’t going to struggle in the group stage. This tournament really starts for them in the Round of 16, and they are all but there.

Dortmund, with USMNT star Pulisic, looks like a contender

A black and gold sea of fans invaded the Portuguese stadium for the match against Sporting, and they got a show, especially with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s glorious opener. Dortmund controlled the ball, handled the pressure from the hosts and got a fine 2-1 win in a tricky place to play. American Christian Pulisic again showed his quality and nearly found the net had it not been for the crossbar. But he again impressed, looking well beyond his age on the pitch, and it’s another three points for Der BVB.

The Foxes’ dream start continues

So get this — through eight games in the Premier League, Leicester City has eight points. In three Champions League games, the Foxes have nine points. Their dream start to the competition, their first ever appearance, continued on Tuesday with the 1-0 win over Copenhagen on a Riyad Mahrez goal as the Foxes kept their 100 percent win record. Now Leicester has a five-point lead at the top of the group, with Porto and Copenhagan on four points. So the Foxes have a five-point advantage over third place with three games to go, which means they should feel really good about making it to the knockout stage. The fairy tale continues.
