Statute writing process: Voting on amendment proposals to start today

Kathmandu, Sept. 13: Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang has said that voting on the amendment proposals received in the Revised Bill of Constitution of Nepal, 2072 shall begin today.

In a talk programme of Radio Nepal this morning, CA Chairman Nembang said that the voting process scheduled for Friday and Saturday was postponed at the request of major political parties and added that the process would proceed ahead from the second meeting of the CA this afternoon.

The top leaders of the major political parties are scheduled to address the CA meeting today that would begin at 11:30 am. The CA meeting would be postponed for some time after the speeches of the top leaders and then process would begin, Nembang added.

According to Nembang, President of the Constitution Drafting Committee Krishna Prasad Sitaula would answer the concerns in regard to the draft constitution after the deliberations of the top leaders.

Nembang was of the view that the current amendment proposals would accommodate the issues of the agitating sides if agreements were held prior to today’s CA meeting while the constitution could be amended even after its promulgation if the talks and process move ahead parallel.
