Vice President Jha calls for women CA Members’ active role

permanand-jhaKathmandu, April 5: Vice President Parmananda Jha has called for the proactive role of women members of the Constituent Assembly in constitution writing.

Addressing a programme organised by Sankalpa here today to honour and extend best wishes to the women CA members here today, Vice President Jha stressed the need of women CA members to be more active for framing a women-friendly constitution as their population is more than that of men.

He opined that women’s representation in the Constituent Assembly (CA) could be pushed up to 33 percent if they pushed hard for getting women nominated in the 30 seats of CA members that are yet to be filled.

Minister for Energy Radha Gyawali emphasized on the need of women CA members to play pivotal role to ensure the equal participation of women in all levels of the state mechanism through the new constitution to be drafted.

The 172 incumbent women CA members were honoured on the occasion. RSS
