Wheat Production Got Down By 25 Percent

Janakpurdham, May 27: This year wheat production has got down by 25.5 percent as the crop was lashed by heavy wind in Dhanusa district.

Since, the crop was planted and harvested late the wheat production decreased due to unfavorable weather condition.
District Agriculture Development Office, Dhanusha said that Dhanusha reaped 75,000 metric tonnes of wheat worth Rs 645 million from 38,000 hectares of land and the production was expected to be around 115,000 metric tonnes.

Surendra Goit, Programme Officer at the Office said that around 100,800 metric tonnes of wheat was produced in 2014/15.Further, he added that the district has facility for irrigation at 28,000 hectares of land and 12,000 hectares of land depend on winter rain for irrigation.
