June,27, 2015: The small populated country Bhutan is the most peaceful country in South Asia, according to the nonprofit Institute for Economics and Peace.
Similarly, Nepal is second and Bangladesh is the third most peaceful country in South Asia and has ranked better than neighboring India and Pakistan, a report says.
South Asia’s position went up a notch in the regional rankings, but only because conditions deteriorated at a faster pace in MENA. Overall, the individual composite scores of most countries in the region worsened, with just Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh registering gains.
According to the report, the thinly populated island in the midst of the North Atlantic has held its place as the most peaceful country in the world.
The report ranked 162 nations around the globe based on factors like the level of violence, crime, and involvement in conflicts and the degree of militarization.Six out of the top 10 most peaceful countries were European, with Denmark and Austria holding the second and third spots.
