Baitadi, Sept. 23: As the practice of child marriage continues in the rural areas, the students of secondary level in Kuwakot VDC in Baitadi district have united together against child marriage.
The students have formed ‘Health Promotion Group through Culture’ in coordination with the local health post to work against early marriage and make a healthy village, Group’s coordinator Liladhar Panta said.
Panta added that the students themselves have taken initiatives to stop such social ills by considering that the entire life of the teenagers would be pushed to uncertainty due to child marriage.
As per the campaign, the members of the group have been visiting the parents on their doorsteps convincing not to marry off their children before 20 years of old. The schoolchildren have also vowed not to marry at a tender age and take initiatives to stop the same if they got information from any source.
