Gaushala, Aug. 8: A convict, who had been absconding for the past 16 years after setting the some houses of Muslim settlement of Gonpura VDC in Mahottari district in fire, has been arrested on Wednesday night.
He is Prakash Amat, 55, of Gonpura-3 of the district, according to the District Police Office, Mahottari.A group comprising eight member had set some houses of local Muslim settlement in fire.
The Appellate Court, Dhanusha, had in 2055 BS, made verdict of six-year imprisonment to all eight people.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Lokendra Shrestha, said that Mahottari police arrested Prakash from his house on Wednesday night and was sent to Jaleshwor jail for six-year imprisonment.
