Kathmandu, 16 October 2014: A National Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Upcoming 18 Th SAARC Summit: Nepal’s Perspectives on Climate Change, Agriculture, Food Security and Disaster Risk Reduction was organised in the capital today.
At the programme jointly organised by South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE), and Oxfam, Nepal, working papers were presented on various themes like climate change, agriculture and food security, disaster risk reduction to identify and discuss issues that are important for Nepal in the next SAARC summit to be held in Nepal.
At the programme chaired by SAWTEE Executive Chairman Poshraj Pandey, chief guest and National Planning Commission (NPC) Member Dr. Govind Nepal, Oxfam Nepal Interim Country Director Ms. Noreen Khalid, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nirmal Raj Kafle, executive director of ISET, Ajaymani Dixit, Senior Programme Officer of SAWTEE, Dr. Smriti Dahal, Dr. Madhav Karki, South Asia chair, IUCN, among others, expressed their views on the impacts of these issues for Nepal and the position of Nepal on them in the upcoming SAARC summit.
