Kathmandu, May 16. 2015: The Association of Private Educational Institutions of Nepal (APEIN), an umbrella organisation of private academic institutions, has decided to open higher secondary schools from upcoming May 24, five days ahead of the government decision.

Earlier, the government announced the closure of all schools and colleges in the earthquake-hit districts till May 29.

The private schools will start the classes disrupted following the massive earthquake with a focus on psycho- counseling to students to relieve them from post-quake trauma, said Ramesh Silwal of the Earthquake Survivors Rescue Committee formed by the APEIN. The APEIN that had earlier provided free bus services to the people making an exit from the Kathmandu Valley after the major earthquake. It has also instituted a relief fund for the assistance of the quake survivors.
