Beni, Myagdi, October. 7:  Rs. 1.6 billion has been invested in 727 small and cottage industries operating in Myagdi district until the last fiscal year 2070-71 BS. Some 600 cottage and small industries were run in the district in the previous fiscal year.
Increasing industries in the district are poultry farms, rice mill, furniture, dairy, mobile repair centers, among others.
The Cottage and Small Industries Development Committee Myagdi said there are 212 poultry farms, 76 rice mill, 32 furniture industries, and 79 dairies giving employment to some 5,000 directly or indirectly and transacting over Rs. 300 million monthly.
A total of 127 new industries were registered in the district in the last fiscal year, said Senior Industries Officer of the office, Rameshraj Regmi.
Dental clinic, sewing and cutting, fish farm, goat farm, and hotels also increased, the office said. Registered industries have to be renewed every five years.
