Salyan, 17 October 2014: Solar-enabled computer classes have been operated in Tribhuvan Janata Higher Secondary School at Mulkhola of the district.

At least 157 students of grade 6 and 7 of the school have obtained opportunity to pursue computer education.

The computer classes are being operated by purchasing eight computers at the cost of Rs 240,000 including District Education Office’s grant of Rs 180,000 and Rs 60,000 of the school.

In order to attract number of students towards computer education and facilitate their further education after passing out from the school, the computer classes have been brought into operation, said the school sources.

It has been easier for the school to run computer classes after a solar grant of 1,135 Watt through the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre was provided to the rural schools having no electricity.

With computer education, the school students have received opportunity to access national and international news through the email and internet.

Computer classes have been operated in two dozens schools of the district beside Janata School after the district education provided grants to serve the objective of running computer education in all schools of the district.

The District Education Office had provided grants of Rs 280,000 to 61 schools each to that end.
