Kathmandu,9 March 2015: Women organisations affiliated to various political parties have expressed serious concerns over the death of a six-year-old girl who was raped few days ago.
Pooja Saha of Kalaiya-8, Bara, who was reportedly raped in her village, breathed her last in course of treatment in Kanti Bal Hospital Sunday.
At a press conference in the capital Monday, CPN (UML)-aligned All Nepal Women Association Chairperson Bidhya Devi Bhandari said the Bara girl rape case has tarnished the image of the country. It was an unfortunate incident for child rights and human rights sector, she said, seeking severe punishment against the perpetrator (s).
Nepali Congress (NC)’s sister wing Nepal Women Association Chairperson Dr Dila Sangroula demanded life imprisonment with confiscation of all property to those committing heinous crime like rape. Women of every age group either they are minors or septuagenarian are falling prey to sexual assault which was a very disappointing matter.
UCPN (M) affiliated-Nepal Women Association Revolutionary Chairperson Amrita Thapa said no women should tolerate any types of exploitation against them.
Meanwhile, Inter Party Women Alliance Chair and Nepali Congress Women Department Chief Meena Pandey in a press note today demanded the government ensure security of women and their right to life with dignity.
