Would be accolade to democratic fighter Koirala if constitution is promulgated on time: NC leader Poudel

Kathmandu, Sept. 10: Nepali Congress Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel on Thursday said that it would be a great tribute to the veteran freedom fighter BP Koirala if the new constitution was promulgated through the Constituent Assembly.

Leader Poudel said that dreams of the freedom champion, who fought all his life for democracy, would be materialized if a democratic constitution was issued on time.
Poudel was speaking in a programme titled ‘Nationality, Democracy and Socialism’ held by the Prajatantrik Bichar Samaj (Society for Democratic Thoughts) here in the capital to mark Koirala’s 101 birth anniversaries.

Saying that constitution-writing process is at final stage, he claimed that the new constitution will be the best in the Asia as the constitution comprises provisions like Loktantra, fundamental rights and inclusion. He also urged the agitating groups to join talks to promulgate the constitution.
NC central working member Arjun Narsingh KC pointed out the need to evaluate how the NC implements principles and idealism of the founder of democracy, Koirala.

Similarly, chairman of the (Rastriya Samachar Samiti) or National News Agency, Kul Chandra Wagle, who is also the Vice-president of the Samaj, said that it would be easier to seek way out of current political turmoil if principles and thoughts of BP Koirala were embraced.

NC central member Dr Shekhar Koirala, NC leader Laxman Prasad Ghimire, advocate Ram Narayan Dev, Vice-chancellor of the Tribhuvan University Prof. Dr Tirtha Khaniya and Vice-chancellor of the Sanskrit University Prof Dr Kul Prasad Koirala among others also spoke in the programme.
On the occasion VC duo were honoured.
